Fallout 4 mods don’t come much better than this epic Iron Giant effort over on the Nexus Mods website.
Replacing Liberty Prime with the Iron Giant from the classic animated film, the Fallout 4 mod is available on Xbox One and PS4, and doesn’t require any additional DLC
PS4 owners get the short end of the stick, however, because the Iron Giant mod isn’t available on Sony’s console.
“The Iron Giant will either begin to appear when returning to Boston Airport from The Bomb storage facility during Liberty Reprimed with the Brotherhood quest line. (Up until that point, Liberty prime is in separate pieces and will still be Liberty prime’s meshes) or he will appear during Airship Down with the Institute quest line.
The proportions of the Iron Giant were modded to fit Liberty Prime’s skeleton, because otherwise the creator would have had to modify every single animation.
And it’s not the only interesting Fallout 4 mod.
Turns out the popular Old World Radio mod – which adds 30 new stations to the game – is powered by a strange source.
As Kotaku points out, the mod works by spawning invisible cats that serve as radio receivers.
The bizarre practice was explained by cdante, one of the mod’s creators. The modder said: “To give you a little clarification, I spawn an invisible, silenced cat 500 units behind the player when an inactive radio station switches tracks in the background.
“The cat acts like a settlement radio receiver, and its role is to keep alive the inactive radio station so it continues to the next track even if you’re listening to another station.
“Just like if it was a settlement receiver somewhere near the player. In normal circumstances the cat doesn’t make sound. It is silenced, it is invisible, and it is deleted from the game world after three seconds.
“In very rare cases, though, some of the stations bugs out the first time you install the mod, and it causes to spawn cats rapidly.”
